Located at 94.8324 longitudes and 27.53293 latitude at the border area of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, Silapathar Town College, one amongst the premier under-graduate Arts Stream institution of higher education at Silapathar, Dist- Dhemaji, Assam was established in 1993. The College was originally established as female higher institution name as Silapathar Women’s College to impart women education to strengthen the backbone of the society, the delicate gender of humanity with a vision “Enlightenment of Women”. With the slow and steady strive for excellence, public demand and pressure compelled it to start a co-education system for the larger benefit of the area which had only one such higher education institution which could not accommodate the growing numbers of students and finally the college changed the name from Silapathar Women’s College to Silapathar Town College in 2008 for imparting both the gender and has completed its glorious and illustrious two decades since its inception by few farsighted intellectual who could sense the necessity of more such higher institution in the area.
The College has also Contact Centre / study Centre of Distance mode of education under Dibrugarh University which provides undergraduate in Arts Stream with major in Assamese, political Science, Economics and sociology and Post- Graduate education facility in the department of Assamese, English, Economics, sociology, Education, and mathematics. It also provides various employment generation short-time courses to the interested students who could go for placement option in different government and non-governmental offices.
The college library has well-stored books of more than 100 categories with a volume of more than 15000 books. It has spacious reading rooms with Xeroxed facilities for both students and teaching staffs.
The college has well accommodate hostel for girl students with mini-library. It has a playground for outdoor games and sports, a multipurpose Indoor Sports Training Hall and also a modern multi-gym for students who are cautious of their health and mind.
